For plumbing marketing agencies
AI never names 84% of plumbing companies
in big US cities. That is your next client list.
When someone asks ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude or Perplexity for a reliable emergency plumber near them, only a few names come back. We checked plumbing companies in five big US cities, and 83.8% were never named by any of the four. Most owners have no idea, which makes AI visibility a new service you can sell.

The gap, city by city
The share of plumbing companies never named by any of the four assistants, from our study of 25 US markets.
New York86.8%
Houston83.8%
Chicago83.6%
Los Angeles82.1%
Phoenix81.6%
Of the six standout examples in the study, the most-reviewed was a plumbing company in Phoenix with almost 9,000 Google reviews, and AI never named it.
Being well known on Google does not settle it. The most-reviewed plumbing companies that AI never named include:
- Plumbing company, Phoenix: almost 9,000 Google reviews, 5.0★
- AC and plumbing company, Houston: 6,600+ Google reviews, 4.8★
- Heating and plumbing company, Chicago: 3,400+ Google reviews, 4.9★
Why this is an opening for your agency
Plumbing is often urgent, and a homeowner with a leak may ask once and call whoever is named. For these owners, being left out means missed calls they never knew about.
- You have a reason to call. "AI recommends these three plumbing companies in your city, and not yours" is a stronger opener than another SEO pitch, because the owner can check it in a minute.
- Good businesses are the ones missing. 44% of the 66 plumbing companies with 1,000+ Google reviews were never named. 211 plumbing companies with 4.5+ stars and 100+ reviews were never named either. On average, 4.2 of the 10 most-reviewed in each city were left out. These owners already care about their reputation, so the gap is worth showing them.
- The work goes beyond the website. Only about 1 in 5 pages the assistants cited was the business's own site. The rest were lists, articles, directories and review sites. For plumbing companies, the most-cited sites were ConsumerAffairs (33.5% of answers), Yelp (27.0% of answers) and Trustanalytica (25.0% of answers). That is ongoing work you can deliver every month.
- One check in one assistant is not enough. 70.7% of the businesses they recommended were named by only one of the four, so clients need someone watching all of them.
With Seeably: the businesses AI overlooks in a market come as a ranked prospect list, strongest first, each with a ready-to-send audit showing the owner who AI recommends instead.
How to start this week
- Scan one market you know. Pick plumbing companies in a city you already work in, and see who AI names and who it leaves out.
- Start with your existing clients. If they are missing, you have found a new service to offer. If they are named, you have good news to report and something to protect.
- Send an audit to the strongest overlooked plumbing companies. Lead with what AI says about them, not with what you sell.
- Deliver and show progress. Work through the free AI visibility checklist, and check again regularly so the company owner can see the change.
With Seeably: on the Pro and Max plans, each audited business gets a fix kit with the work written out, and you can track clients over time with a progress page you can send them.
